The
College believes in offering to the society multifaceted dynamic young women and
thus lays stress on an all-round development of its students. The students are encouraged
to take part in the various extra-curricular activities like the annual sports meet,
the Foundation day celebrations and the annual college Social. The college also
has an active NSS unit.
NATIONAL CADET CORPS AND NATIONAL SERVICE
SCHEME UNITS: The N.C.C. and N.S.S. Units of the college offer healthy extracurricular
activities for the students. Under the efficient guidance of the servicemen of India
and the trained officer-in charge of this college, who is also a member of the teaching
staff, the N.C.C. cadets can build up a national character and develop aptitude
and spirit for defence of our country. There are separate N.C.C. Units here, for
boys and girls. Besides significant training, theoretical and practical N.C.C. opens
up service prospects for the students. Motto of N.C.C. is unity and discipline.
N.S.S. is another very effective scheme
for socio-economic training and health awareness for the students. Under the guidance
of trained teachers of this college the student s within this scheme can undergo
such awareness camps. They are trained to developing a broad national character,
irrespective of caste, creed and socio-economic status. They are taught how to keep
up a neat, clean and healthy environment, physical and spiritual. They have also
a very active role in illiteracy irradiation programme of our country.
Admission to the N.C.C. and N.S.S.:
Students can seek admission to the above unit or units some time after their admission
to the college. Enrolment is on the basis of selection conducted by the proper authority.
Students' Aid Fund Book Bank: Beside
the Library, the college runs a Text Book Bank sustained by the U.G.C. grants for
the purpose. Students coming of financially weak families are entitled for using
this bank.
The
Aid Fund is meant for direct financial aid at a time in each academic session for
the poor students of this college. These benefits are of course subject to good
conduct and satisfactory academic progress of the recipients, and are not matters
of right.
Students' Health Home: Being a member
of the Calcutta Students' Health Home Sripat Sing College is entitled to avail every
possible health facilities for its students. A meagre fee for student per annum
is charged at the time of admission. Identity cards of the college enable the students
to get benefits of health care and treatment of the Health Home.
Cultural and intellectual: With the
help of Students' Union the college arranges annual literary and cultural competitions
namely, (i) extempore - speech, (ii) debate, (iii) news-reading and announcing,
(iv) Quiz, (v) Songs : Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti and modern songs, (vi) recitation
and (vii) Antakshari. These help them develop their aesthetic faculties. Seminars
on different subjects are frequently held.
Youth Parliament : To make the Student
trained in Assembly and Parliamentary sessions college holds training classes in
'Youth Parliament' and arranges on an annual competition. Successful students participate
in the State-level competitions and often win prizes.
Social function of the college: The
Students' Union with the help of the members of the teaching and non-teaching staffs
arrange a spectacular Annual Social Function. Besides participants and artists if
this college, professional and amateur artists of repute are invited in this function.
Freshers' Welcome Function: To arrange
ceremonial welcome to the fresh students is a happy occasion organized by the students
of this college every year.
College Magazine: College Magazine
titled 'Alekhya' is annually published by the Magazine Committee under the auspices
of the Students' Union. A very effective medium for young talents and literary genius
in the making this college magazine shows off the budding writers, poets, novelists
and essayists.
Physical Exercise: Arrangement and
requisite equipments are here for ample physical exercise of the students. There
are indoor and out-door games and students regularly participate. Besides annual
sports, indoor games competitions are held and successful candidates are awarded
prizes in the social functions.
Games & Sports: Games and Sports
for the students are deemed here part of their education to build up healthy body
and mind.
The
composite playground and the adjoining open spaces offer to the resident and non-resident
students ample opportunities for practicing their chosen games, such as football,
cricket, volley, badminton. Games and sports materials are supplied by the College.
The Games-Committee of the Students' Union under the guidance of a teacher Games
President has to maintain these all properly.
Every
winter the college Athletic sports is held elaborately on this ground Organized
by the students' Union and with help of the teaching and non-teaching members of
the college.
