NATIONAL
CADET CORPS OF RDK COLLEGE
The history of
college NCC organization is very old in its tradition. The college raised NCC
unit (i.e. 5/9 Coy.) in the year 1963 and since then it has been functioning
successfully. Students are allowed to get membership of the NCC unit in the
beginning of the session. Girl-students of the college are also eligible to get
membership of NCC through admission to open unit for the girls operating in our
neighbouring institution, Sripat Singh College. The college is, however, trying
to open a similar unit for the girl-students interested in joining NCC. Motto
of NCC is "Unity and Discipline". Cadets attending regular NCC
parades are eligible to receive training certificates issued by the college NCC
unit. The NCC cadets may also appear at the 'B' and 'C' certificate
examinations conducted by the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. In
addition to the regular training, NCC students have enough scope for
participating in various community development and other extension activities.
In fact, joining the NCC gives extra charm and status among the students
desirous of contributing something to the cause of our nation. Recently, both
Govt. of India and Govt. of West Bengal have given priority and advantage to
NCC 'B' and 'C' Certificate holders in various defence related recruitment
examinations. The cadets of the college are trying to encash this benefit as
maximum as possible. On an average about 10 cadets are getting job every year
with the help of NCC 'B' or 'C' certificate. This is no doubt an encouraging
trend indeed. Enrolment in NCC is done on the basis of Physical fitness test.
At present the College Unit Commander is Lieut. Dr. A. M. Mishra and Office
Assistant is S.K. Karmakar (NCC 'C' certificate holder).
